New Master Rule – Correct use of Link Materials

This bit of info took quite awhile to be given from the Perfect Rulebook, but it finally answers on how a Link 2 or more monster is treated when being used for a Link Summon!

1) Link Material Conditions
“2 or more Effect Monsters”

Materials have to fulfil the conditions that are listed on the top part of the effect text. The minimum number of materials will also be listed.

2) Amount of Materials needed
“LINK-3” = 3 Link Materials

LINK will be the same amount as the amount of Link Markers. To Link Summon, use the same amount of Link Materials as LINK, making sure that the monsters used fulfil the conditions.

Example of Link Materials required to summon a LINK 3 Decode Talker

Necessary Link Materials
“2 or more Effect Monsters”

Legal – Link Slayer + Draconet + RAM Clouder that you control
(3 Effect Monsters)

Legal – Draconet + RAM Clouder + Honeybot that you control
(3 Effect Monsters)

Legal – Draconet + Honeybot that you control
(A Effect Monster + A LINK 2 Effect Monster which will count as 2 materials)

Legal – Honeybot + Honeybot that you control
(A Effect Monster + A LINK 2 Effect Monster which will count as 2 materials)

Legal – Honeybot + Honeybot + Honeybot that you control
(3 Effect Monsters)

Not Legal – Decode Talker that you control
(Not legal as there is only 1 monster for the material)

Note: To clarify, basically a Link Monster (Regardless of whether its a LINK  2 or more) can freely count as either it is a Link 2 or more Link material, or it can also just count as 1 of the materials.

Based on this info, it would be fine to use for example, 3 Decode Talker and 1 Link Spider to summon Firewall Dragon. Though it is highly inefficient, but it gives you a lot more freedom and could be useful depending on situation.
